AIRPORT SECURITY

02 Feb 2009 to 31 Oct 2009 – last updated: 25 August 2009

Remember that some airlines are sticking with the “one small item of hand baggage” rule that has been in place for some time, and even where the airline permits any additional hand baggage, there may be charges for this. In your hand baggage, only small quantities (100ml) of “liquid” may be taken through Airport Security & into the aircraft cabin. This covers gel/paste/lotion/cream/perfume/drinks/foam etc., and if you must take anything like this, the containers must be placed in a clear re-sealable plastic bag, 20cmx20cm (like a sandwich bag). Anything else will be confiscated. Detailed advice is available on the DfT Website – http://www.dft.gov.uk/ including specific information about the way that hand baggage should be presented for scanning. Our advice is that you continue to travel very light, as security checks are still thorough, so the less you carry, the less there is to check, and the quicker you can be processed through the airport.

Gatwick Terminal Monorail Transit

01 Aug 2009 to 02 Jul 2010 – last updated: 18 August 2009

The monorail transit system between the North & South Terminals at Gatwick Airport will be out of service from 28 September 2009 thru July 2010. There will be a replacement shuttle bus service, but you should allow 20 minutes if you need to change terminals at Gatwick during this period. Please note that our ticket desk is based in the SOUTH Terminal – if you need to collect tickets (TOD) you must collect these from the Monarch desk in the South Terminal, even in your flight departs from the NORTH Terminal, so you must allow plenty of time to travel between Terminals.
